Anyone have a Half Black Angel?

Got me one afew weeks ago! He's doing great. Getting really fat. Eats like a horse, problem is he's picking at my Gorgonians and my Zoos! I also have a coral Beauty and he doesn't even look sideways at the corals! Is this normal for an angel? He also eats the algea off the glass so that's a plus!!!!

This is what he looks like for anyone who may not know!

Why is it called "cargo" when it goes by ship, and "shipment" when it goes by car?

Oh well! Lucky for me I have a coral tank so if she picks too much I can just tranfer the Corals to the other tank! The LFS here has a 125gal display tank and he made the mistake of adding a Flame Angel!!! Lost a couple hundread dollars worth of Corals before he Caught the culprit!!! LOL! They say you can't mix them either so I guess I will count my lucky stars that the two get along and put up with the coral nipping!

They can be. It's luck of the draw, as Johnny said. Mine doesn't nip, but I don't have hard corals.

I've had my coral beauty for two years and the only thing he's picked at was my Purple Candy Cane Frag from Ivan! It was on Christmas day! LOL I guess he just wanted to celebrate with the rest of us!!!

Sorry to hear about this piatchie. Once a nipper always a nipper, I've never heard of being able to get one to stop. Sounds like you are set up very well though having another tank to move the corals too. You may find that he doesn't pick at every one and may not have to move all of them.

Yup, it really is a matter of luck with any of the dwarf angels. I really love them too and have kept (at different times, not all together) flame angel, coral beauty, bicolor and midnight. Neither nipped corals or clams so I have been really lucky.

There are some things that can increase your chances though:

    - get the angel really young, the smaller ones adapt better to tank life and seem more likley to give up instinctual behavior

    - feed the tank frequently - doesn't have to be much at a time at all but at least 3 times a day, use an autofeeder if you are away at work all day

    - keep them in an active tank, meaning with other active fish and lots of liverock (things to pick at that aren't corals), bored angels are more likely to nip

    - stock the tank with corals and clams before adding the angel, they seem to get used to the surroundings and tend not to think of the corals as food but adding a new one can be like saying - here you go, a nice expensive snack

Pretty sure their is still one up at TMP if you are interested! I just love this fish! I called her Ophillia. Really suits her, she's a little snot! Thinks she owns the tank!

Has anybody had sucess keeping more then 1 or 2 Dwarf together? People keep telling me that you can't do it

    Flame Angel,

I try to feed at least three times a day! Most days it worke but some days they only get two feedings and on other days they get 4! I work at the Airport and when I leave in the morning, everything in the tank is still asleep so....# out of 9 days they get their first feeding of the day at about 3 in the afternoon!

I have a bicolor and midnight together right now in my 120g. They were added at the same time and were fine together. Then I had trouble with another fish and divided the tank for a while. After the barrier was gone the bicolor was VERY mean to the smaller midnight. They have since worked it out though and are getting along well again.

That said I don't think I'd do it again, just not worth it when things go bad, it's very sad.
