    Question To purchase a book...

I haven't set up my tank yet, and it hasn't been set up for 6yrs. And I'm anxious! So if there was one book you would recommend, not a reef aquarium, just salt water fish what would it be? (Maybe down the road when I purchase a bigger tank I will get into reef, but for now )

A great book on identification and needs of salt water fish is Scott Michael's Marine Fishes. Bob Fenner seems to have many good books as well. I'm sure more people will chime in soon

Bob Fenner's "Conscientious Marine Aquarist" is very good.

If you want a book that explains all about setting up and maintaining a saltwater aquarium.., and one that actually uses all the methods we use and not some stuffy book from the eighties. "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Bob Fenner. This is a general how-to book that you can actually use!!

Toutouche and Susan, does this book contains examples on how to setup overflow, sumps, refugium, etc.?

Sumps are covered and skimmers, etc. I don't think refugiums are but we can help with that kind of thing.

Don't let this stuff intimidate you. My 120g reef is my first fish tank and I set it up with a basement sump room. It was scarey as heck at first but not when you get it up and running.

Thanks Susan. I ordered The Captive Marine Aquarium Special Edition a couple of days ago. So I'll keep The Conscientious Marine Aquarist in my list.
