    Looking for Mangrove pods... HELP

    Hi guys,

I'm in Quebec and looking for Mangrove pods since about 4 months.

Everyone I know are BO since that time...

Is there anyone here who can help me find some 'young' Mangrove pods (without leaves)?

You know a Canadian store who have some?

    Please....let me know...

    Thank you

I dunno bout the Canadian sites... I bought mine off Ebay and had great sucess with them. I bought them twice from the same seller. $9.99 USD plus shipping. Worked out to about $20 canadian with shipping for 11 pods, no leaves, lots of roots.

    Who you bought from?...

Let me know cause USA dealer says we need a kind of permit to get them in Canada...is this true or it can cross the customs easily?

No worries about the border. She mailed them in an envelope., Took about 10 days to get here (Nova Scotia) from Flordia. I did not loose a single one. Ended up selling 14 of em (well ok, I traded a few too!) and keeping 6.

    Cool

IVAN and HARLEY get them regularly. personally, MANGROVES are decoration and not efficient in nutrient removal. they get big as trees overtime and add more humidity to your house. why use them?

I thought they were great for nutrient removal? I've read countless times, about someone who's added them to thier tank and had their nitrates go to zero for the first time ever.

Af for keeping them in your house...why keep any plant in your house then? Are all of yours plastic Johnny?

    Cool

mangroves are not house plants there trees that get pretty huge. the problem with them as nutrient exporters is that they grow extremely slow compared to macro algeas.so if you want something for exporting then mangroves are not the way to go.plus, you have to constantly mist and clean there leaves to remove salt crystals or they'll die.

    John is right.
To think that Mangroves are good nutrient exporters is old school. They grow too slow to have any effect. Macros do a much better job. Mangroves are now mostly kept for the "novelty" of having them. Some newer people in the hobby still read the outdated info out there and think they are good for filtering.

what about i give a try and let you know in couple of months?

not that i don't want to argue about it but all books i have says mangrove are the best nitrate killer... even videos talk about it.
