Sorry for my error, I meant to say that the kalk will bind the phosphates to precipitate it in the watercolumn. Long day for me...
The waste that the various living things produce will also contribute. This is why it's important to have a "good" efficient skimmer. While it won't remove 100% of the waste, it will remove more than a leser quality one will. Every tank is different and to find that balance is sometimes a winding road.

Yes, I do have a flourescent lighting system remaining from my freshwater aquarium days.
I'll mull over the cycling/lighting question for now. I still have plenty of questions and reading to do before I fully step into this hobby; this should enforce patience for another month, at least.

Check the spectrum of the lights you have. I'm not sure if SW uses the same as freshwater since I've never kept fresh. It might make a difference as to the type of algae blooms you will get.
