    You could also hang on a small Aquaclear filter on the back. Take out everything so the water just runs through it. It will break the surface tension nicely and you don't have the powerhead to deal with. (I find they are always falling off or ending up in the sand) You can use the AC for carbon , etc if you first put the carbon in a pantyhose bag. ;-)

    i got a filter on their right now, magnium, well i belive thats what it is, i am going to get a differnt filter though from work, they are on sale next month so ya

    Does it break the water surface ? You need to have something that breaks up the surface of the water- like a waterfall effect ( from an Aquaclear), or a powerhead pointing sightly up. It doesn't have to filter it- just break up the surface so the scum you are seeing gets put back into suspension so it can be skimmed out by your skimmer. Or an overflow system.

    yeah it has that waterfall effect thats what weird i am still geting the scum, i donno i am going to get a new filter see if that helps more

    you can get a skimmer with the overflow box attachment so that it will only skim the water from the surface.

    i just ordered an AquaC Remora Pro with one. It is supposed to make the skimming a lot more efficient.
