    newby live rock question

    I am looking at picking up so cured established live rock but i have no idea what to look for. How do i tell if it is good/bad live rock? is there anything to avoid?

    I think that if it is purple it most likely is good. Be weary of stuff growing on it. Pests like aiptasia, bubble algea, red algea and much more need to be dealt with quick. If there are shrooms, polyps and other corals on it, it is awsome rock. Smell it, if it reaks you should cure it, in fact I would cure it no matter what. Look for holes, if the rock is very heavy, it means it is dense and it will take alot of place. I think very porous and light rock is better.
