I think demineralized just means spring water minus the minerals. I don't think it means it is pure. JM $.02

I use would distilled. If if doesn't say it's distilled, then it isn't. There are several 'fill up stations' in the Ottawa area that sell distilled water for approximatley $4.00 for a 5gallon jug.
If you are in Orleans, the Mr. Gas on Trim Road has a self-serve water fill-up station. That's what I used until I purchased a RO/DI last month.

Looking in the Yellow Pages, most of the places are in Orleans.
There is Water Universe on Richmod Rd (at Woodroofe) but that's no closer for you.
The only other closer place would be 'Bytown Pure Water Co' on Antares, they advertise RO water. Give them a call at 225-7873 to see if they have distilled.

Note: I don't work for any water companies....I just looked in the Yellow Pages.

I had been using RO water from Loblaws, but to be honest I seriously doubt they maintain their equipment enough for reefers & I think all grocery stores are in the same boat: Don't replace the filters until somebody gets poisoned

Distilled is likely your best bet until you get your own RO/DI unit.

    Cheers!

I think concensus would be to leave it overnight in a circulated tub or bucket and to bring it up to tank temp too. If you take it one step further, you can run all your test kits on it. Some people who say they got bad batches of salt do this. I can honestly say i've never tested for alk, ca etc. on newly mixed batches.

It's best to leave it in the bucket overnight with an air stone or small powerhead. This will ensure the salt is well mixed, plus it helps with air exchange.
