    what king of pump

    presently i just have a sump under my 90 gallons but i want to put my sump in the basement to put a refugium but i don't know what kind of pump to use ?????

    Your going to need a "pressure rated" pump that can handle the finial head height. You can reduce the head if your sump can be setup close to the ceiling on a shelf. You can delete at least 5 feet of head if it is on a 5 foot shelf or stand.

    did i need to mesure the height from my aquarium to my sump downstair???

    Yes .. that distance is what is referred to as head. You need a pump that can overcome that distance and still deliver the amount of water you intend to recycle through the sump.
