    TDS readings

    Hi there,

I was just wondering what kind of TDS reading users were getting on their regular tap water. I've got readings of 45-60 TDS before my RO/DI, 0TDS thereafter. Could my meter need adjustment? Not even sure how to do that...

    Thanks for any info...

I get around 100 -130 TDS here in kingston. I have the In line type sold on AC. When are you reading the TDS? I find that its better to wait a min or so then read. Let the water flow though the unit. Other wise the reading jumps all over the chart.

    40 - 60 seems a little low?
    TANK -35 Gallon with 15 gallon sump/fuge
    LIGHTS - T5HO 36" 165 total watts
    FLOW - Mag 7, fluval 304, 201 powerhead
    OTHER - seaclone 100 skimmer, RO/DI water

When I had the RO/DI unit connected to only the cold water, the in-line meeting reading 50.

However, now I mix the incoming water with the cold and hot water....it has increased to 70. Makes sense since I'm pulling water out of the hot water tank. I don't mind the increase, the RO/DI unit went from 2gallons per hour to 4.

    Output has always been 0.

Mine at one time 180 and the other time I checked 150. Very high ! I used an in-line and handheld to check the readings, they were the same.

I thought you could damage the RO membrane with hot water? ..or is warm water ok?

    water at 78F is ok.
I have a mixing valve on the hot and cold water that leads to the RO/DI unit.

I don't think I'd want the hot water that Minto around here offers (in Nepean). Their boiler is always down for repairs and often comes out rusty for a while - and they won't advize you that they worked on it either, so you never know what'll come out when I turn on the hot water tap.

FYI, I'm taking the TDS readings right on the water inlet for the whole system, and after the DI unit. It's one of Ivan's units. (very satisfied BTW...)
