Starting new SW tank! (pics intense)

It's been awhile... finally some action pics, no lifestock yet but here it is! The setup is a 30G tank with a 30G sump.

I have 2 of these 30G breeder tanks, both painted on 3 sides. Had to scatch off the paint...

    Finished paint removal...

Oh the fun part... cutting the tank glass with dremel....

And some more dremel glass cutting... The hole is alil bigger than 1-3/4" diameter

Various glass pieces put together. I kinda forgot which way they should go until I already applied the silicone (dry fitting first!!)... and endedup have to re-arrange them and so it's a silicone mess... it's ok it works...

Nice looking job !!!! Only thing i see that would make me nervous is the waters height in the tank. If the teeth get partly blocked with hair algae etc the water level will rise and it looks to be close to the top already.

I agree, by the looks at one of the pics you can make the teeth deeper. That would lower the water to a safe height.
For me anyway. Looks sweet though.

    lol yeah I know

When I just did the wet-test, I didn't even pay attention to the water level, was just looking at the overflow-box. Then when I looked back, the water was literally 2mm from the edge lol. It does look cool tho. And I knew from it I managed to perfectly level the tank using a leveling ruler from dollarshop heh.

Anyway I've grind down the teeth abit so will see. I've cut the tank glass alot lower at the beginning so it's just the plastic which I can grind down easily to adjust the water level.

Did you just use silicone to assemble the box and fix it to the tank? I would like to hear more about how you accomplished all this. I have been dreaming alot about building a small cube tank out of glass. Did you put a beed between the glass you were joining or did you just put one inside the corner?

Just draw a circle on the glass and dremel it... it's pretty easy to trace since it takes so long to dremel away the glass anyway, you aren't gona go off-track.

yeah I just use silicone... some between the glass pieces and then some more along the outside edge. It's very solid.
