    77 gal cycling- pic

    Well, after a long time the 77 gal is up and starting to cycle!!

    I want to thank all for advice given.

    Here is a pic.

    Still a little work do do on the sump so I am running the tank seperately at present.


    Specs: 77 Gal 50 lbs LR, 115 LBs base rock
    3 inch DSB
    50 gal sump --under constriction...almost done
    experienced a few technical difficulties

    lighting

    wat type of lighting do you have??

    i got only got 50 watts NO on my 33g.

    still building th canopy---wiill have 440 watts of vho just have No now for cycling...

    you sure thats not too much lighting

    im thinking about going 180 and thats quite a bit for my tank

    Cool

    thats definatly not to much lighting. thats just about perfect for a tank that size and you could even add 2x 150w MH lamps. but your doing good with the VHO. have you fired it up yet? let me know if you have any questions. just remember,lamps need to be nice and snug and your endcaps need to be anchored real firm.

    Very nice start. One thing I noticed in your post is a 3 inch DSB. I run a bare bottom tank, but maybe one of the more experienced reefer's can comment on that depth. I always thought a DSB should be at least 4 inches. I could be wrong but just thought I'd mention it. Nice looking tank though.

    Yeah, johnny

    I fired it up...works great. Just building the canopy now. One thing at a time.

    I got the sump up and running today. Gotta tweak the drain on the tank though. Quite a bit of noise!! Any suggestions?

    Hendu, I have some more sand but thought the 4 inches would look like too much. I am not sure it makes a big difference. I tought I would put the rest in my refregium part of the sump.
