    Wrasse info please..

Which wrasses can i keep with a small size crushed coral Substrate?

i have 120# liverock in 75gal tank.. im looking for colourful fish.

i read wrasses need 2-4" sand bed. any chance of keeping a wrasse in my tank?

    i was looking at..

    Radiant Wrasse
    Yellow Wrasse

as my center piece fish. but read they needed sand.

anyhow any suggestions are welcome and fish names would be good...

Johnny Rock told me a few names but i have forgotten them lol.. and some i checked on said to be needing deep sand bed..

    Thank you for reading!!

Flasher and fairy wrasses can be quite impressive, especially if kept in a small harem. Some of these (e.g. a Carpenter's wrasse) don't need sand to bury in.

As Nick mentioned, Flasher wrasses are beautiful, and don't need a sandbed as the envelop themselves in a slime cocoon overnight.

    Some to consider...

    Carpenter's Wrasse

    Exquisite Wrasse

    Filamented Flasher Wrasse

    Laboutei Wrasse

    Lineatus Wrasse

    ...and many many more....
Keep in mind that some of these wrasse's demand a HEFTY pricetag.

Hmm, another thought. If you're gonna invest in an expensive wrasse as a centerpiece fish, make sure you jump-proof your tank.

Wrasse's (especially the ones above) are known for "carpet surfing".

I'd hate to dump $200 in a wrasse, only to find it dried up on the carpet the next day.

    Fisherman,
Those should all do fine and fare well in captivity with exception to the first one (C.punctatus) which seems to be a shy/difficult feeder.

    Cool

yes if your gonna get these type wrasses use eggcrate. lost my SCOTTS to the floor. any CIRRHILABRUS wrasse do not use the sandbed as mentionded. these are not that easy to get and the price is a premium.
