    Top-off question

    I have 30g sumpless, skimmerless. 5g water change/week.
I didn't have any top-off so my salinity is going up slowly.
In the begining I had only some snails and slugs, aiptasia and featherdusters, so slight shocking was not an issue.
Now I have a peppermint shrimp in it and getting some fish soon,so I decided to make a temporary top-off.
For now I use a plastic cup and soft hose inserted through DIY drip controller (fine resolution) and hanging above water level.
My question is: ...how fast should I drip it?
Temp is 78-79, rough water surface is roughly 3' x 1'
I have it going now on 1 drop every 6 seconds.
Is that OK or I should do it slower?

he he, you might need a bigger reservoir than a plastic cup - but you got the right idea. perhaps at least try a 2-liter soda bottle.
you can simply adjut the drip rate based on your evaporation rate till it is equal. if you notice that your water level is still decreasing, then increase the drip rate. if the level is rising, decrease the drip rate. if its not changing, dont change the drip rate.
