    Pump Shaft

My Céramic shaft broke in 3 pieces that runs my pump for my skimmer. Can a person use something else as a replacement? The company that I bought the skimmer from DONT have replacement parts for the pump. Before I buy a new pump else wheres, just looking for a better and cheaper way to go about this. The thing about this the skimmer is only 2 months old.I know it will be my last purchase from this company out of Montreal.

    Cheers,

    Marcel

If you can find a PERFECT match in stainless steel that would do the job. Not so long ago stainless steel was the required standard.

I would not use that Marcel. Take the broken shaft with you to a shop that sells replacement parts for power heads or other pumps that use similar sized impellers. Get the match that is right of you will not get near the same performance and could even damage the walls of impeller cavity.

If not you can try maybe the pin from a hinge made in SS thats the same diameter and cut it to length..then the edge polished...mesure it with a vernier caliper or a micrometer...to make sure your pretty close.....im sure your all familiar with that you have a machine shop if i remember coreclty
