    Candy Cane

Well it's been about 1 month since I put in my candy cane frag in my nano. It's doing well. What I'm wondering is how long does it take for it to split? Right now I've only got 2 polips and I would really like to have more Does anyone have a picture of a candy cane splitting?

    Thanks,

    Steph

Splitting depends on a number of issues, make sure its getting enough light and feed it when the tentacles come out to encourage growth(usually night).

When it does split it will get very large and grow two mouths, it will then turn into a figure 8 shape before eventually becoming two polyps.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the good info. I'll try feeding at night over the next couple of weeks. I beleive it's getting plenty of light.

    Thanks again,

    Steph

it takes me about a week for them to split. No lie.

Just feed them everyday. for the whole week plus it also got to do with your lighting etc. That being said, they have to become fat first before they can split.

Here is a pic of one of my frags... you can see 3 stages:

Top left: 2 mouths starting to form the figure 8

Bottom left : the 8 is closed and the 2 new heads are forming their own indipendant heads.

Top right : finished splitting 2 distinct heads.

I also feed my guys in the evening to push their splitting... but it's not a matter of weeks at the very begining. You got your at the last MASO... I would say give it time to get used to your tank... then it will happen every week . You will see movement!
