    Question PH question

I'm using Kent dKH pro but I can't get my PH up. My KA is OK. Is that stuff only to bring up the KA or is it supposee to bring up ther PH also? Should I use something else, like a proper PH or something?

    What do you use?
P.S. I'm french so I never make any typos......they are actual mistakes :sorry:

    What's your pH at?

Generally speaking if it's not 8.2 - 8.4 there's something causing it too drift down. You can buffer it back up, but you're putting a band-aid on the problem.

    Cheers!

When did you last do a partial?

what, exactly, is your alkalinity, or KH and what test kit are you using? And what is the ph- as well as the calcium level- if you know..
I ask because in a new set up, you shouldn't be needing any buffers yet- I suspect you are over dosing -which will actually lower the ph slightly and hold it there..as well as mess with calcium levels

Krugar: Was told not to do any partial when cycling.

reefmutt: Will have to check KH tonight. PH at 7.8 and cal at 400. I'm using AP tests. Whas told by Kent's people to double the dKH dose. Could this have over dosed the KH? What should my KH be at?

You don't have to do a partial while cycling, but now that's it's finished I'd say it's high time.

I'd do a partial & see where that gets you before dosing anything more.

Also make sure any sponges and the skimmer is clean etc.

    Cheers!

you can never go wrong with water changes.
A KH of 10 is pretty good- anywhere between 8-12 is safe.
