I have 4 1200's on wavemaker in my 90 along with a Mag 12 return from the sump but there are dead spots. I think I will be adding 1 more.

Why not go with a few Hagen 802's they push 400 g/h when the maxi 1200's only push 295.

802's are big nasty looking things and probably produce more unwanted heat.

As long as you have enough flow to prevent dead spots in the tank, you should be fine. If you are looking at adding some more powerful powerheads, you could try the new Seio pumps. Those will be enough for a FOWLR tank.

a couple powerheads in teh corners work fine maybe some fluval 2's or 3's
keeps stuff moving, if you keep the songes in make sure they are accessible. i left them in and they clogged easily. now i have them hidden but not as nicely, as to not disturb my rockwork
