hi,

was wondering what cyano feels like to the touch? Is it slimy, thick or hard to the touch? I've got this reddish/maroon like hard stuff covering some portions (about the size of a quarter, not really spreading) of my live rock. I can take some of it off ,but I need to really scrape at it. I've seen pics on sites, but i can't definitively say, "yeah, that's what I've got!"

Cycno should not need to be scrapped off, Usually it can just by siphoned out.. To the touch its Slimy like a form of Mucus.

if it's hard and encrusted on the rock, it is most likely a form of coraline aglea. no need to scrape it off at all. most reefers would love to have a bunch of maroon coraline in their tanks.

ok, thanks. so slimy and easy to "pull" or "suck" off are the tell-tale signs, right?
