As you can see from the cup design, any fill up will flow back into the tower, so there will be NO overflow.

By the way, it has been few months now. Did the noise and bubbles go away?

I have the Remora Pro, but the sump version. My skimmer sits directly at the bottom of my sump.

Honestly, mine does not make much noice. The major noice comes from the Mag5 pump. Make sure the pump is not touching and vibrating against something else.

I am very happy with the amount of gunk it is pulling out.

i had one and stopped using it because i found it too loud.
the prefilter box will help with the bubbles, but is VERY BIG.
It makes no difference which way the pump faces, whatever looks nicer to you.

Thanks for the confirmation apoon. I haven't set up my skimmer yet (waiting for live rock), but I did give it a test run a few weeks ago. The Mag 3 is pretty much silent. Alrha, does the loudness you mentioned come from the skimmer or the pump?

the skimmer. the pump is in the water and you dont really hear it (i had the mag pump on it) but its the bubbles in the skimmer that you hear. that was also on a tank that was not drilled and did not have an overflow or return pump, so my tank was silent which made the skimmer the only thing making noise so it may not be so loud in relative terms, but compared to a silent tank, i couldnt stand it.

Hmm. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I do know that compared to my freshwater tank, which sounded like it was channelling Niagara Falls, my saltwater tank has been pretty soundless so far. I'd hate to say goodbye to that!
