    Unhappy Little Giant Pumps

Are all these pumps this freaking noisy!! I have the 4 MDQ-SC and it sounds like a motor boat.

Johnny I have not used every model they make but in my own experience Little Giant pumps have always been too noisy.

yep, I have to agree. my bad lesson. once I add the doors to the sump area and insulate them it might be a little better. I'll have to get a different pump for my skimmer.

Is that the pump you got from me Johnny? If so I'm sorry it's to loud for you. I knew the pump made some noise but it was dround out by all the other tank noises that were in my room, so it did not bother me. I'm really sorry!!! I hope your sump doors will make it quiter for you.

Hey Johnny. Go out to Home Depot and buy 1 damaged "acoustic" ceiling tile. Make sure it is "acoustic". Make you self a 4 sided box (2 ends, a front and a top) that is big enough to allow the pump to breath (say 2.5 to 3 inches clearance all around) and set it over the pump with the opening facing away from the viewing area. You will be very surprised how much the noise you hear will be reduced.

And they will be cheap if damaged. White side faces the pump. It gets wet build a new one. The cut pieces can be pined together with finishing nails or glued.

You might also consider using styrofoam, if you've got an old livestock box lying around.
