    Cool carbon screens [filters]

I was at BIGALS last week just to pick up some quick carbon to help clear the water from all my tinkering[aquascaping] when I found these thin flat sponge type carbon impregnated screens. there about 1/8'' thick and around 6'' wide and 12'' long. its just perfect to sit ontop of my eggcrate that is above my return pump box. the water gets sucked thru this. works gret! I don't think its the best quality carbon but man it works fast. I do have to clean it regularly as carbon doesn't work to well when dirty. its made by AQUAVUE or AQUACLEAR I think. anyone else try these?

If its the ones i am thinking of they slide into a position in the HOB power filters they make. If my tank did not have the euro bracing I would have a power filter or 2 on it for this purpose.

They're probably meant to cut to fit different HOB filters.

The Carbon Pads that you mentioned are made by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals it called Black Magic.
its easy to replace the cartridge in odd sized filters. Cut your own super activated carbon-coated pad to fit your aquarium or pond filter. Quickly removes colors, odors, organic waste and floating particles from fresh and saltwater aquariums. (taken from there site)
and is probably private labeled for Big Al.

They are great pads for what was mentioned prior.
