    Pinpoint Salinty Monitor

I just received my Pinpoint Salinty monitor yesterday. :-)
I calibrated last night (as per the instructions) using the sample water that comes with the unit.
According to the Seatest monitor (not that they're all the acrruate to start with....), my tank is 1.023. The Pinpoint monitor says it's 1.028. I understand they would be a difference as the pinpoint is more accurate, however 5 points is really different.
And if my tank is truely at 1.028, that's too high.
    Regards,
    Patrick.

Swing arm hydrometers are notorious for being off... it doesn't surprise me.

My swing arm hydrometer was 3 points off of what my refractometer said.

I am also not surprised. However ... it is likely off by the same amount all the time so at least it was consistent and therefore so was your water.

I'm using Tropic Marin's high precision hydrometer:

    Is this good enough?
