    Flow Direction

I'm looking at my tank flow patterns, let's say they were not ideal (bad surface skimming for one).

I have two returns from the sump in a 90g. I can move them wherever I want but so far I have been unable to create a dead-zone free flow that both skims the surface well and brings the detritus towards the overflow box...

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Eric

It may sound funny coming from me... put a Rat on your returns.... the constant 90 sweep back and forth will get rid of your dead spots...

The 2 Rats on Joseph Montreal's 500 gallon at the opposite end of the tank from the overflow are there for that reason...

    There's your solution for now ... :

Or if you're real handy with your hands... do like these guys at RC did with plans from my DIY site...

The interest generated by this thread has driven my website hits over 500 a day... on each of both sites...

    Happy DIY...

    Thanks ReefVan,

I have to admit for tonight I was more looking for something like point 1 there and the other there... Until I can get Rats or The DIY jobbie above...
