    Maxi-Jet 1200 's

I have 3 maxi-jet 1200's in my 90 gallon reef and the suction cups stopped working ages ago, the problem is I have them on a Natural Wave Timer (powerbar thing) and when they cycle on and off they move all over the place, and create flow where I don't want it, and also vibrate against the glass during the cycle. I have tried to wedge them in the rock but they still end up blowing around eventually. I did the mod on them and cut the output nozzle down but it didn't address the moving around issue Any ideas? I can't afford a manifold system yet so I need advice with the powerheads for now...

Why do you not buy new suction cups.

    That's what I do.

They are very cheap to buy also. They are sold for about $4.99 for 4.

Peluche, where do you buy them and how long do they work for before you need to replace them?

You may ask Ivan on AC here if he can get some for you.

MOPS also sells them. That,s where I bought mine last time. They come in packs of 4. Buy 5 or 6 packs and your problem is solved for a while.

Mine last about 4 months each. But thatís an educated guess. I have never actually mesured the time.

Mine have been in my tank for 10 months and I have no issues with them falling off. I do find if you move them you have to scrape the glass spotless where you want to put them. A little film of algae or something will cause them to fall off within a day or so IME. Maybe just try cleaning the glass and the suction cups spotless and reattatch. Seems to work for me.

What's wrong with the hangers that come with the pumps?

Maxi-Jet 1200s come with two mounting options. One is the suction cup mount, the other is an overthe side clip.

The over the side clip might not work in your setup, but, it won't wear out either.
