when i initially bought the t5 kit it cost me like 400$..i just bought a triple halide kit for my 150 wich i dont have anymore and traded one ballast kit for a icecap 660...

anyhow.....contact ivan for halides...hes got GOOD prices and if you are going reef go with the halides...t5's has alot of good upsides but halides you can put anyhting you want without have to worry about lighting.......its hot but cools down easily with computer fans correctly possitioned......let say for one ballast of a 250w..170$$ and plug and play socket... and cord..with one 24"reflector.....45$$$ plus the bubls...that is form cool touch .....

dont go with 175 they arent enough..i think go min 250W

It depends rob, i think if you calculated the energy used over a period of even say five years they would be so much cheaper, not only the energy but replacing m/h bulbs, the cost of a chiller and energy to run it etc etc, how much do you think they would retail, i would easily pay $2000 for a set of those beauties

    Ivan sells it for 10.99$:

eheh just kidding...you dont need a chiller for halides...you just need computer fans..ive got 2 x250w on a 36 in tank and ive got 5 computer fans cooling that...approx.....2 degree max difference when the lights are on..you really hear the fans either
