i agree with you toutouche, but the pics give you an idea especially if they are taken with the same camera same setup etc, it would be extremely expensive to buy three or four types of bulbs to see which you prefer.

    Steve,
What many people, myself included do is try one type of bulb for the duration of it's lifespan, then if I'm not happy with it, I simply try another the next time it's due to be changed. I wdidn't mean to go out and buy all the different types at the same time. You also do this with an"educated" guess from doing your research beforehand and seeing what the common opinions are about said bulbs.

K rating has absolutely no influence on growth. I have been using 20 bulbs for over a year and never experiance such amazing growth. Its all about easthetics and what you like to see. The 20 k bulbs are definetly more dim and often have a lower par, but they will still make the corals grow. The 10 k range of bulb definetly looks more natural than a 20k.
I will go to a 10k bulb next time around.

i use 1000W of 10k and 300W of 20k, gives me a little of both and i'm happy with the look. also makes a nice dawn/dusk effect.

That's exactly what I plan to do in the near future- 4x250w 10k and 3x250 20k
