    Filtration System

Well, after spending the last 3 days huffing and puffing to set up my tank, now I find out that I cannot get my wet/dry filter unit inside the base. :grr:

What I have is a Marineland Tidepool 2 with bio-wheel. See link below:

    http://www.marineland.com/products/c...n_tidepool.asp

So now, what's available out there? What can be used as a filtration system for my 125 gal.?

Suggestions/comments are most welcome as I am getting impatient to get the tank started. :bounce: :bounce:

    Thanks in advance!
    Serge

Hi Serge, how come it wont fit in your base? is it to high or do you have a divider in the middle?

Tide pools are nice little units for marine fish tanks.

I just saw a pic of your tank, honestly you can if you want remove one of the middle supports. And place the Tidepool in by the back of the stand.
Three supports if well done(cant see inside)will hold that tank without out any problems or worry`s.

    Hi Robin.

I cannot turn it to fit inside. The unit is too long to fit. I tried every possible I could, sidewyas, upside down, you name it. No divider inside, just not enough space. Drats... :crap:

Indeed, it seemed like it, that's why I purchased it. Now I'll have to look at other alternatives.

copy cat the unit out of Plexiglas but make it shorter or flatter as necessary so it will fit. If you build the knock off with care you can still use the wheel part of the original setup.

Well, this is a brand new stand commercially made and I would prefer not to cut out stuff. I also thought that it might fit by entering from the back, but should I need to remove/service it for one reason or another, after the tank is full, I would have to destroy it to take it out. The price I paid for it, I think that I would loose brownie points with the wife.

So, I'm looking for other solutions, possibly even building one myself. Have to make research on the net to gather more information about similar DIY wet/dry filtering systems.

    Cheers,
    Serge

Indeed Rob, that is another possibility. Thanks for suggesting it. I am keeping my options open at the moment and just hoping that I can find a quick and not so expensive replacement. Why is this thing soo expensive? Beats me. It's only plastic. Niche market I suppose.

    Cheers!

You really wont be pulling that out from there, there is no chance it breaks since those units were made like a rubbermaid but thicker.

Can you at least return it and get something else like what OSD mentioned?

They were overpriced units but like you said they catered to there niche market thats the same units that wallmart uses in there stores there installed in the MARS Aquatic systems which were a fortune like 8000$ per 4' section.

I think that Big AL will only give me a credit to buy something else. I unpacked the unit, unable to use it, back in the box. So, they sold me everything, but the filtering unit does not fit. Go figure.
