    Copapods?

I have millions of small white creatures running the Glass and some of the rock. Would these happen to be a form of copopod? I am interested in a mandarian goby, my tank has been going for 14 months.....don't want to starve the little fellow.

yes those are pods, either amphipods ( look like little shrimp ), isopods ( look like little ants ) or the tiny copepods ( even smaller and looks like and ant without legs and a straight tail ).

madarins require a well established tank ( 1 year ) of 80G - 100G min. with at least 80 lbs - 100 lbs of live rock and a refugium. mandarins spend all day eating and looking for food to eat ( pods ). they can deplete a pod population in a tank quickly, leaving nothing for them to eat. some people say they have gotten there mandarin to eat " insert food type here " but this is not there natural food and their nutritional requirements are probably not being met. sort of like us eating at mcdonalds every day, we will stay alive but ...............

also you should make sure there is no competition for food ( like from a six line wrasse or other pod eater ) because the mandarin is so slow the other fish will beat him to the food.

yes you can buy pods, but they aren't cheap especially if you have to do it all the time. they will be continually be depleted if you try to keep a mandarin or other pod feeder.

Reefcrew used to sell them in Canada but I'm not sure if they are still in business.

reefaquatica.com sells Reef Pods which are the smaller harpacticoid copepods and Tigger Pods which are a larger species. They sell Reef Nutrition products and are near Toronto.. Whitby I believe..

Here is a good article on copepods:
