Red Algea Good Or Bad
Hi Everyone,
Ever since I bought my tank over 3 years ago there are two rocks that are completely red. One is still red and the other is red but know has spots that are really red. I use only RO/DI water since the beggining. My brother saw my tank and thinks the red algea might be bad so my question is, is red algea bad and if so how do I get rid of it. I will take a picture of it tommorow.
Thank You
Terry

it is very hard to remove from the rocks. The one rock is it impossible to remove the other half the rock is the same and on top of that it is red slime but also hard to remove. does anybody have pics of the difference?u

if its slimy then its cyanobacteria. just increase flow in your tank, reduce feedin/ phosphate and also syphon as much as you can out as possible
I had this problem and had just finallyt fixed it after like 4 months of trying. I increased the flow to my tank and reduced phosphate . at first they didnt go away when a syphon a lil bit but when I syphon all that I can see, they didnt come back. at first b4 when I didnt increase my flow, When i syphon it all out they would come back, so I suggest syphonin out as much as you can and increase the flow in that area. if its on the sand get a sand siffter.
