Dubai continues to impress. Here is a neat little man-made Island development complex called the Palm:

    How cool is that?

I would rather be in the underwater setup. The island complex is an awesome concept but it has not been cleared by mother nature yet. I would not want to be there on that island if a storm like Hurricane Charlie rolls by. It is setup so close to water level I am sure there would be not much left in the aftermath.

That's what I was thinking too - one bad storm and it's toast! These days with the changing weather patterns no where could really be considered safe from storms - except maybe underwater.

One thing that strikes me about these kinds of things is how they are starting to reflect times in history when there was a huge difference between the rich and poor and little in between. I mean, let's face it, these places aren't for anyone but the super rich. It's not like there are more people becoming rich and able to participate in this kind of lifestyle, quite the opposite. Kinda scarey when you think about how most of the world lives and then you have the super rich moving to places like this where they don't have to see it or think about it. Must be easy to lose touch with reality living like that. Let them eat cake!

Yes it is a shame to see and realize that the middle class is heading for obsolescence. The real scary part is that it includes ME !!! Hand over some CAKE LOL

Maybe. But I think a storm that would wipe out the Island would have to be strong enough to wipe out the coast as well.

As cool as the underwater hotel looks...I don't think I would want to be in it when a big storm hit, or some nut with a bomb checked in (or 'out' depending on how you look at it)!
