I didn't make it to J&L.. TOTALLY wanted to though! Will be ordering more CUC critters from them when I get back! Drove to BC (hubby driving back by himself) and didn't even get any salt.. :| I know I'm going to regret that when I get back and have to pay local prices!

I would love to visit other aquarium 'porn' stores here but have no wheels. Just as well though, wouldn't want to drive here!

Family and fishies are doing well a4twenty! 20 gal only has CUC.. 55 gal still has the 2 engineer gobies, (dreamt about them last night.. haha) 1 6 line, 1 false percula, coral banded shrimp, 2 chocolate chip stars, 1 brittle star and the CUC. Having algae issues though as our days now consist of 24 hours of light, even though they are not in direct sunlight and I am not feeding them as much. Need a dungeon for the tanks

Have you considered putting blankets over your tanks to block out the daylight and give them a true night cycle?

I spoke with my son last night and he reports the water and glass are clear.. we'll see when I get home Thursday night!

Wouldn't putting a blanket over them cause issues with overheating? I had put aluminum foil over the window closest to them (didn't shed direct light on the tanks though..)

If your lights are off for the night and have cooled down I don't think you would have much problem with overheating the tanks, nor starting a fire now that I come to think of it. It would stop loss of heat, but I don't think it would build up heat. I guess you would want to leave some sort of opening for oxygen to get in so you don't stop the gas exchange at the water's surface. You wouldn't want to suffocate your fishies either. People do put blankets over their tanks if it is winter and the power if off for an extended period of time so as to not let the tank get too cold, so I don't see why it wouldn't work in your instance, as I said if the lights are off and cooled down.

Anybody else agree or disagree with this suggestion?
