    So what you are going to see is .. that while venki is offering bulbs that run great when they do run and are cheap.. they are apearing to be very unreliable...

    The one independent review I have seen of these lights was positive. Some problems are to be expected with any product, new or old. The issue would be how many problems and what is done about them. Given the ease with which false ID's and invalid info can float around the internet, maybe we need a Consumers Reports style group to look at these lights (or to collate information from a range of users). Of course, this should apply to other products too.

    I've read several threads from people with legitimate problems with the Sun Aquatics bulbs. Mostly they seem to be with the 10ks. I've been fortunate not to have any problems with the 14ks I bought last month. They aren't as bright as the Iwasakis I replaced but they are a very nice blue colour.

    I wasn't trying to say that there were no problems, just pointing out how hard it is to evaluate the validity of comments on the Net. If there are serious, systematic issues, these should show up in independent testing (which would report the conditions of testing). Individual bulb problems are more an issue of customer service. I think people are sometimes too quick to post service type issues on the Net.
