thanks Vince- I guess I coulda done that myself...
It seems they don't sell parts to the public- you have to have a service contract...I guess that lets them mark it up 10 00000 %!!

You can bet they mark it up sharply Matt. So I guess I should get a spare or a few spares when I get my AC put in.

I'm not sure if it is an every season thing, but I did so much wood cutting and just general messing around in the back room where my central air draws in its air, this winter, that the filter is finished.
I'm pretty sure they aren't cleanable.
It isn't a simple mesh air screen/filter. It's a high efficiency pleated cartridge that removes pretty fine dust- it isn't a HEPA filter but close to it. The thing is about 2 feet by 2.5 feet by 6-8 inches deep.
It didn't come with the unit, I had in installed as a retro when I bought the house.
The company that installed it charged me way too much so I don't want to get it from them..
    Matt.

    Matt,
If it's the filter I saw, at $69 it's a pretty decent price for the size of it!! The regular high efficiency skinny types they sell at Reno and such are around $20.
