    Pond pump question

I am helping my brother/sister in law with there 900 gallon pond. The pond is like and "L" shape...one part approximatly 10-12 feet then the other 10 feet.I need to run one pump to the fountain wich would be splitted and used as a flow. The pump and fountain would be at opposite ends. The pond is on a small angle so the water would just come back by gravity.

I also want a good method of filtration and a uv light.

Wich is the best store for this in the ottawa area or on the internet?

What pump do i need and want?

What uv light do i want?

    Thanks

Supper Pet on Merivale road is MOVING and they had a lot of pond stuff on sale the last time I was in there. They sell UV, pumps etc. Rona & HD also have pond sections.

I don't know much about pond equipment Derick. Check with Reef salt. I do know that they were selling some stuff pretty cheap if the boxes had been opened or with box damage. I think they are due to move in early June and like many retailers they try to sell as much as they can before the transfer.

    Hi Derik,

if you are going to have a waterfall then a large pump such as a GX18000 would be good.

If not use a model that is submersible you can pick it up at Home Depot I may have a pic of it since it was my old pump I used last year.it is a basic sump pump unit but no float switch.
You can T off the output add a valve and modify it to be used as a fountain while the ballance of the water output will create movement.

UV`s there is the Laguna Line of UV`s that are well priced and if superpet is moving they may have some on sale.

Yes it is the Laguna Line of UVs they are selling. New in the sealed box they had the largest unit on sale for the price of the next one down. It was about 39 dollars savings. They also had some Laguna pumps and UVs in open boxes real cheap.

Its a standard submersible pond pump that you can get at HomeDepot or Rona model that you buy in the plumbing section and not the garden section for about 200$ little noisy though but still works and do not get the oil models only Magnetic.

Can you just put it in the pond and split it like i want to?Will that be enough flow?
Yes you can and it will have more than adequate flow

    Is there any submersable uv?
I havent seen one as of yet and they are only external for the ones I have seen.

Is the lava lock in a bucket for biofiltration?
Yes it creates Mechanicle and biological filtration
The model that you can use would be either be a Little Giant WGP-95-PW which is about 300 U.S or a GX 18000 which is made for pond usage that pumps 4700gph at 16`head and reatails for 400-450$.

I forgot to mention that you can get a 9watt Tetra UV sterilizer that would be fine for your pond and inexpensive.depending on how much water you run through it.
