    Hotel in New York

I'm planning to go to New York City for a few nights in a month with my wife and niece. Anyone recommend me an inexpensive place to stay in Manhattan? Would appreciate. Thanks.

Grand Union Hotel. My second home.

135$ a night. Clean, air condition, nice lobby, Internet access, nice inexpensive, delicious place for delicious breakfast downstairs. 5 minutes from Empire State Buliding and Macy's.

Thanks. I realize it's NYC, but are there decent hotels that costs less than 100$ a night?

W is nice but a little out of my league for now.

Less than 100$ is tough if you want something clean, and in Manhattan.

Hotel Carter is cheap, but have heard people talking about a hotel from hell. You may want to give it a try.

    Lol.

Chances are that hotels less than 100$ in Manhattan probably are in the same _ hell hotel_ category.

You may want to try motels in NJ. I stayed once in Bergen NJ, but will never again. Spending 1.5 hours in traffic in a bus just to get to downtown New York is finish for me.

For the price, quality of the hotel and excellent location, believe me, Grand Union Hotel is tough to beat. There are a few less expensive clean hotels out there. I slept once in a hotel on 58th street near 5th avenue (near Cental Park ) for $110 a night. It was ok but the room was the size of the closet in my bedroom. I did not mind that since I do not go to Manhattan to stay in my room. But saving 10 or 15$ a night is not worth it IMO.

Grand Union Hotel is home now. No more searching for me.

try online sites such as hotels.com frommers.com fodors.com etc for reviews on hotels. you can sort by price and then read the reviews.
personally, i cant imagine any decent hotel in manhattan costing less than $100/night unless you get some sort of deal.
either way, if you need to know how close things are, i'd be happy to help out (as a local).
