It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

Found out my wife is pregnant with our first!!!!

    Best of times!!!

Very next day I got laid off from my job!!!

    Worst of times

Guess that gives me more time for the tank in between job applications. If anyone knows of any opportunities for an experienced call center manager I would love o hear about it.

Or really, anything else. I'm not picky right about now

Not sure if this violates site rules but you can read more here http://colinp.blogspot.com/ if you're interested. If that shamless plug is against site rules, just send me a PM and I'll edit it out lickety split.

Your congratulations and consolations are appreciated

    Well, you have both.

Maybe if you angle it right, you can get your wife to return to work as early as possible after the birth and you can stay home and take care of the babies (one human, the rest salty ;-).

    Congrats and condolenses =/

If you know Java and or C++ we are looking for new junior and senior programmers. You would have to move to Montreal though.

Thanks Cres, maybe I can get a home business up that will let me do just that. Awful time for me to take a risk though.

Dazz, thanks for the tip, relocating at this stage of the game is pretty much out of bounds though. We live right between parents and inlaws, and my wife wants to stay close for our first baby

    Hey Mickyfin.

Congrats on the upcoming new addition to the family.

For the second part, that truly sucks. Working in hi-tech in Ottawa is a daily adventure.

Thanks Patrick. I kinda fell into call centers. My Da' calls them the "ghetto of high tech". I started on the phones and worked my way up to upper middle management. Then downsizing hit the fan.

I hear Dell is coming to town so keeping my fingers crossed on that one. If any of you guys in high tech (or other biz's) have call centers in your building, I'd love to shoot them an application.

Thinking about doing some consulting too, but I hear its very do eat dog.

Heh thanks Reef. I've heard that from a few people, and considering how much I liked the place I was at, you're probably right!
