    Clear of Black Silicone?

I am ordering my tank this week and I have a question:

The tank is starfire so the corner edges will not have the green/dark ridge on the tank so I am considering going with clear silicone to have a cool look to it.
Are there any problems with clear versus black silicone? Does one stand up to UV better? Algae better?

    Thanks, any thoughts are welcome...

Ordering now, delivery in the spring. I know how IA works and I want to give them time to get things done.
They shipped me samples of starfire glass and regular glass and wow ther is a huge difference! I can't wait to see corals and fish behind clear glass!

As far as the silicone though, is there problems with algae growing behind the clear silicone and over time breaking it down?

It's asthetics. If you're going for the "euro" look, black is the way to go. I love the look of black silicone.

I also love the look of black but have never seen clear on Staphire Glass.

I was all for black but then Mitch at IA said that clear would look cool on this tank.

wouldn't you be shocked if it was ready in a few weeks! "lol"
I really want to see your plans as I think our tanks are going to be very similar.

Definitly, but I would rather have it done sitting in their warehouse drying waiting for me to call and have it shipped than being stressed in June wondering if my tank is done yet!

Black is cool, and won't show the coraline/green algae that you can't scrape off.
