    Hippo Tang

Does anyone know where to find a Blue Hippo Tang in the GTA? I was told that they have almost impossible to get around here for the past 8 months.
    thanks.

last time i was in the Oakville Reef Gallery i'm pretty sure i saw a few of different sizes. give them a call to check but if you haven't been there before it will be worth the drive from milton anyway.

PS are there any good stores up near milton?

thanks for the reply i will definatly call them and chck it out.

i stop into 'strictly fish' in georgetown now and then, but unless you're looking for something like base rock or a mag-float theres not too much going on there. you really do have to go out of town.

I live in Ottawa but I travel to Scarborough every couple of months. The Big Als on Kennedy always has a lot of marine fish. Their coral selection is only so-so however.

I would imagine the Big Als in Mississauga or Oakville would be similar. Just another couple of places to try.

no need to call, the ORG has 5

one is about 1 1/2" and he says he couldn't catch him to sell

another beauty in the main display ( doesn't want to sell )

a couple of 4 -5 inchers that are not looking the healthiest ( new stock ), but he say if you want to buy one and leave him there he is nursing them back to health and they both are eating like pigs

and another beautiful 3 - 4 incher that is ready to go.

the guys at the ORG are very knowledgeable and if he says he's going to bring them back to health, you can count on it

there were none at BA's Oakville

thanks a ton for the info. i'm going to head down there tomorrow to check it out. i would rather buy it smaller because i have more patience than money but at this point i will take the bigger one if need be. i've been looking around for awhile now. ORG is essentially in the same place as big al's right?

yep its right across the road ( toward the train tracks ) tom said he will be there at 10:00A, i'm going to pick up my new gigas clam

i don't think he wants to part with the little guy ( display tank on the back wall ) but he is so cute. he has a little tunnel through the top rock, he just wriggles through :hysterica

when you walk in there is a nice one in the display on the right ( he just doesn't want to sell that one because its part of the display ) but he's a good size.

if you go straight in ( between the two long tank on the right side ) about half way down you will see the two being nursed ( left side ). just a little further down on the left is the one i think your looking for, he will be swimming around under the coral racks.

while your there check out the small ray in the big square tank near the back of the shop. they say this breed stays small, i still don't think it's reef safe but i want it so bad :biggrinbo

no need for thanks, i owe you. i just found my next clam :happy2:
