    Lots of Bubbles

I'm starting to get a lot of bubbles on my corals and rocks... not sure what is the cause... I'm also starting to see a little cyano aswell in the dead spots. I've reduced the feedings to every second day and increased the water changes to 5 gallon every 2 weeks(its a 26 gallon tank and I'm using ro/di water)

Would high nitrates cause these bubbles to appear? or maybe my T5 lamps need changing? Thanks in advance.

Hi Ivan, I experienced this at one point in one area and things resolved for me with increased flow.

Personally with a tank that size i'd do more larger water changes since i'm assuming you don't have a skimer. Something in the range of 10gal every 2 weeks maybe. My reasoning for this is that this is essentially your only export method of DOC's.

Also i'm sure extra flow will help. How many gph you have now?

How stocked is your tank now?

I have 3 maxi 400's but I have found they are not pushing as much as they used to... the tank has 2 darwin clowns and 1 flame angel... lots of zoo's, some xenia, a couple digitata, rics, star polyps, 6 heads of frogspawn.

yeah you are at about 300gph then... so around 11x turnover... it would definately help to add some more flow, why not swap out one of those 400's with a 600 or 900? IMO reef tanks should have flow from 35-50x turnover...

You have any cerith snails, conches, hermits etc.. to help keep the sand clean?

Thats another one... I had 20 nassarius, 10 cerith, 5 trochus, 20 small blue legs, and 5 left handed hermits... these numbers have reduced... by at least 50%... I also lost an emerald.

I have a cleaner, blood and 2 Peppermint shrimp... I think its a good idea to add some more snails and crabs.

yeah i'm sure between the increased flow and beefed up crew things will clear up on their own.

Don't be afraid of doing large water changes. Anthony Calfo suggested that for a tank smaller than 30g, doing near 100% water changes, leaving just enough water for your fish to survive during the water change, was the way to go. So, I would say you're safe with 50-75% water changes on a regular basis.
