    I found a worm...is it harmful?

While observing my tank last night I found a worm coming out of a rock. It was very tiny but extremely long....black with blue spots and the tip of it would almost look like a feather duster when it would stretch out.

Can anyone tell me if this is a harmful worm or how I can can rid of it?

Odds are very good that it is not harmful. Do you have a pic?

Just based on the fact that you mentioned the tip looked like a feather duster I would guess that your worm is very likely to be a filter feeder. Did it seem as though the worm was attacking any other invertabrates/vertabrates in your tank? My guess is as zookeeper mentioned; very likely completely harmless. If you do want to get rid of it you could set a trap using some bait and a small smooth sided or glass water bottle with the top cut off placed upright in the tank over night near where you last saw it. It's a matter of luck but if the worm decides to climb in, it will not be able to climb back out and you can remove it in the morning.
That's it for now, keep reef'n
