Hitchhiker found, feaked the hell out of me

I have a 70 gallon rubermaid sump with a bit of live rock in it, I was digging around look for a fish and just out of the blue or red I should say, I this crab. I have never seen him before. This guy is easy the size of my palm. After taking him out to snap a couple of pics, I put him back as he can't do any harm in my sump. But now I know what killed my queen angel a while back, as all this rock in my sump is from the main tank. Enjoy the pics, if any one call tell me what kind of crab he is, thanks would be great.

    WOW! Doesnt look too friendly.

In dont know what kind it is but I know it wont last long in your sump if it doesnt have any meat to feed on. This guy is equiped with mean ass pincers that are not for algea picking.

    wow.. really not sure.
Looks related to dungeness or more closely to red rock crab but I don't think it is either of those due to the white rim on the shell..

To give a litte more on his living conditions, the sump have about 30-50 pounds of liverock / dead coral skeltons, it has a huge ball of cheato in it lite on reverse lighting schedule and he would have been add at min 6 month to a year ago so he must be fine with whats in there now. Now that I have move to an external skimmer, I will be adding more live rock and be for sure watch whenI put my hand there. This guy must be tough as nails. I mean I almost drained my sump and add fresh salt water, its where I add on my chemicals, it never gets directly feed and there has been many times I moved rocks around with out care, trying to siphon up the grunge on the bottom of the sump.

absolutely, those pincers as noted above are for eating meat and taking things apart.. give him a piece of raw shrimp every day if u can.

For sure, now that I know he is in there, he's going to get a little attention.
