    what tangs do you keep?

well, wanting to put tangs in my 180g when its ready. i have seen tanks with a mix and also read posts where more then one tang is not a great idea-due to aggression.
    what tangs do you stock?

I've had yellow and blue tangs before in a 72 and an 86 with no issues whatsoever.

I believe that YT and PT are from the same family which sometimes means aggresion. PT are very aggresive and would add the PT as the last fish to the tank.

i always thought this too, hopefully Steve w. will chime in, he has that combo. my PT is definitely the king ( or queen ) of the tank but i only see aggression as a response to my three stripe damsel.

I had quite a few tangs in my tank in the past.. close to half were eaten by an anemone... but, the main thing is, they need space and lots of room to hide.

    yellow tang
    purple tang
    hippo tang
    true surgeon tang
    hybrid mimic tang
    tomini tang
    desjardini tang
    vlamingi tang
    kole tang
    clown tang
    convict tang

    - the most aggressive was the tomini ( by far the worst.. never again! )
    - the nicest in behavipr kole tang & clown tang.. didn't bother anyone.
    - yellow is territorial and bugs anything thats yellow or from the same genus.
    - hippo (dori) can be a bully, but doesn't last long, its shy and hides in the
same spot which it will defend.
    - the purple is shy.. ( even if its the biggest fish in the tank )

never keep them in pairs, if you want many of the same sp. think big tank, with lots of hiding spots and go with an impair number like 5 or 7 or 9.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

In my 220 i have a blue tang, yellow tang, convict tang, copper band butterfly, blond naso tang, powder blue tang, purple tang, think that is all the tang i have they were put in at different times they use to get all alone reallyh well but now all of a sudden i see my convict tang picking on my yellow tang so guess its going to be time to get rid of my yellow tang in the next couple of days i'll be selling him....

Would love to get a much bigger tank and only have tangs in there maybe when my oldest kid decides to move out i'll turn his bedroom in a fish room then i can have one hell of a huge tank in there ....ya that sounds like a good idea
