    Auction suggestions

Can I make a suggestion on the Auction? Well I'm going to anyways. The length of time is way too long for the auction on some items. Who wants to wait 30 days to win an item. Does anyone else feel this way also??????

I like a week or tow at tops. Just my 2 cents worth....I don't want change.

I agree Mouse. 7 days, 10 max would be good. I also as a seller would not want to wait 30 days for the items sale to be finalized to get my dollars back into my pocket.

    hehhe... very true...

What happens at the end of an auction?
Does the seller have the option of re-submitting the same auction? Or does it just fizzle out and disappear?

I think the seller should decide on how long he wants the auction to last. He may want a quick auction of 3 days or a long auction of 30 days. I know on eBay, the long auctions are more to let more people know what they are offering. Most experienced bidders don't bid until the last day anyways.

For dutch auctions, 30 days is not unreasonable to sell 10 items.

Tang_man: yes you have the option to resubmit if the auction was not won by someone.

Vickie: Great point... if someone wants to make it 30 days... then 30 days it is. mouse? Salty?

Since this thread is open, I'll chip in my PM comments to Ivan.

Having an auction available is a good idea. However, I would rahter it not list auction items on the 'home' screen. That takes up screen space which will be largely static and not of great interest to many people.

I would rather see the Auction run like a forum. Provide a 'hot link' to it from the home page. Provide a counter of the number of items listed. But, keep the actual items off the home page (unless a user selects to have them there).

Just my 2c (How do you get a cent-sign anyway?)

Well for sure the seller may choose the length of time for their auction and it may be required for costly items. But keeping that in mind ... who wants to wait 30 days for a 12 dollar used power head or heater they need sooner rather then later? I'm sure common sense will prevail.
Also... Where can I find the rules and regs of auction behavior as a seller or buyer? I will guess that if you have an item in the auction you would not be allowed to list it in the ads as well?

How about adding a buy-it-now price? This way the impluse buyers do not need to wait till the end of auction period.
