    hammer coral acting up... again..

since the transparent slime it was shooting out a couple of weeks ago.. its been decreasing in size.
for a while it seemed happy and was super bloated.

now, its crawled into a ball and wont move much. I've made sure the current was not increased in his spot my stats seem fine.1.025, ph8.25, calc420 and dosing kalk manually every morning. no noticeable nitrates or phosphates.

i tried feeding.. it takes it.... but still wont bloat up.
WTF am i doing wrong.. dont want to loose this guy !!

It does sound sick and I've been there with my hammer. try this[can't hurt] change 20% water and stop the kalk for awhile. sound crazy but I had issues like that and stopped dosing everything untill all was well and then went back to the Kalk slowly. You might be just plain loosing the coral to a brown jelly infection but hard to say. I physically cut my hammer with a hacksaw to save it. I cut the part that was infected and falling apart. It worked and I still have a coral. The other piece I put in another tank and it survived and is living at IJO's Mine is a channel hammer though not sure what your is.

mine does not seem to have that brown jelly stuff. I also did over 20% water changes twice in 3 weeks.. no improvement.
I'll stop dosing kalk.. should I stop the calcium also ? i'm at 420.. this does not seem excessive.

i did stop dripping kalk a few weeks ago since my little dripper thing broke.. so I have been adding half a cup of that water solution ( which is half of what it got normally ) manually at 6am every morning to compensate.

that could be the problem? It does no good to add it like that but rather drip.[but ya knew that]. sometimes corals[especially LPS] will close up for days just to reopen like nothing happened. why, don't know and either does anyone else. they can surmise but no scientific info. My hammer, torch, frog, bubble, candy cane all do this occasionally. had them for years. If you start loosing tissue then you have a problem.
