    Coral accel

Anyone tried or heard about this stuff? Says it's good for starting coral growth. Myth or miracle?

I use it in my reef. I've been using it for 7 months and I notice more growth from my shrooms, zoo's, polyps and leathers then I did in my previous reef when I didn't use it.

I simply dose by the directions on the bottle.

fishmonger: Your statement doesn't make any sense. Coral Accel isn't for promoting LPS coral growth, ie. your candycane.....so it's very doubtful your candycanes growth was excelled by dosing coral accel.

It's used for fragging small polyped stonies, soft corals, octocorals(xenia and the like), and colonial anemones.

    Must be those moonlights....:rotflmao:

Coral accel had nothing to do with it. It doesn't promote new skeletal growth.

So what does the stuff do? If it doesn't help to promote the skeletal growth, does it do anything? I know that the skeletons are made up of calcium.

WEll thats not necessairly true, just becuase it doesn't promote skeletal growth doesn't mean it can't help lps grow and divide by providing nutrients and elements for them

It's clearly labelled on the package what it's for. It is to promote new tissue growth, NOT skeletal growth, so YES it is necessarily true.

    Nope....

First of all when a head on a candycane coral splits, it doesn't start by building a new skeleton it starts by increasing tissue size i.e tissue growth, this is helped by coral accel.

Second of all, if your ead about it on the kent web site its designed for progation of all corals, becuase it spurs tissue growth and it does this by providing it with the nutrients and elements to do so

Not to mention the active ingredients:
Active Ingredients: hydrolyzed marine protein, marine lipids, potassium iodide, ascorbic acid, vitamin A propionate, vitamin A palmitate, sodium EDTA, tocopherol.
Are all known growth promoters of LPS corals... so yes it could indeed contribute to the growth of LPS corals
