    Workhorse hooked up

Got the ballast hooked up and running. Damn you cant beat the price for what it does. I noticed that it hardly throw any heat at all.
I also noticed that the actinic are brighter than when there fired by the Icecap ballast another plus. I will run it for another 24hrs than pass judgement.

I tried the 3 wire and tried it then ran it with 4, big difference,4 wires seems to drive it to its full potential.
    I'll stick with 4.

    Re: Workhorse hooked up

Is there not a big right up about WORK HORSE overdriven bulbs there for shortening the lifespan?
[usefull spectrum]. I know theres tons of threads on RC about this very thing. Then again, maybe ICECAP is underpowering the bulbs therefor giving you longer lamp life but less power punch. I own a ICECAP 660 and there most definatly not crap and have a safety shut off feature if you ever happen to short it out. I am interested in the workhorse but will have to wait till my ICECAP dies.[which will probaly be never!] 8)

Thats what I've heard the Icecaps are under driven, that probably why the bulbs last up to 18 months. If I get a year out these with the WH7 id be happy.

I agree Johnny, the ICECAP VHO ballasts are a fine product.

Not sure what they do - I would have thought they didn't underdrive, even though that is typical of MH electronic ballasts.

I'll be getting a Workhorse or two to try as well. Was going to get one to get more actinic, but I think I might also try the AquaSun as Jake pointed out to enhance red (was that the right bulb J?) as well - just to see.

I've got 3 x 5' VHO actinics in there now.
