ID this white stringy thing please...

Just noticed this white stringy thing on the side of the tank tonight. I have no idea what it is. It doesn't seem to be moving. I haven't poked it. Was wondering if anyone has ever seen such a thing. Is it a worm? Snail eggs?

Total length about 5 inches, neatly/evenly coiled throughout
Here's a pic of the whole thing
    thanks.

Are you serious??!?? Wow...they don't look like eggs at all. So how many eggs do you think is in those 5 inches??

will they survive? Do i have to do anything special?? Are they gonna become fish food for my wrasse? How can I ensure at least a few of them survive??

time to go Googling.....this is very cool
    thanks.

Don't bother, they won't become anything. Even the fish don't usually eat them.

Actually it depends on the tank. I've never been able to get baby cerith snails in my tank but I have friends who do. If they do hatch and make it you'll have a LOT. This is a good thing, these snails don't hurt anything, even in huge numbers. In the end the number that survive will be equal to the number that your tank can support with food so there's no worries about a plague of them
