    extra base rock

I got lots of extra base rock and I'm not sure what to do with it. I got the idea of putting it in my sump (No lighting). What are some opinions on that idea? Thanks

I think it is a good idea to put it in there All the little pods will live in it and it will act like a refugium I would put some lighting on it even if it tis just a 18 inch 20 watt hagen powrglo.
Anybody can start a reef tank it takes a realy intrest in the hobby to maintain one.

I already have a refugium, so I don't want to put light over my sump. If I put the rock in there with no light will it still collect bacteria, and the sort?

Yes it will start collecting bacteria but if you put a little light over it it may grow algea that the pods will feed on. It will benifit. I have seen 7 watt PC's put a single on there wont cost more that 30 bucks
