New Kalk Reactor up and running! Thanks Harley

I just got it up and running and it works great, i don't have it hooked right up to my RO but up to a 6 gal bucket instead, and it still works really well, i'm thinking about getting one to put on my new 40 gallon that is under construction.

Hey Mark, can you describe how you've set this up?...from pail to tank. I won't be able to hook up an RO top up system at this point either, so I'm looking at a few different options for hooking up a kalk reactor...I'd like to understand what you did.

Basically i just took a small powerhead, hooked it up to some 3/8 ID hose which i ran to the input of the kalk reactor, i plugged the small powerhead into a float switch which was set up in my sump.

Thats about all their is to it!

I don't think I quite get what you're doing there...are you using gravity feed to drive the water from the bucket to the reactor, or is the small powerhead activated by the floatswitch in the sump to drive the water to the reactor, or neither and I'm just not getting it :-)

Its a small powerhead activated by a floatswitch that pushes the water into the reactor which in turn pushes it into the tank via pressure

Fishmonger, how much water evaporates before the float sends the signal? I ask because it could be quite a shot of kw all at once. You might consider putting a restriction on the line so that the kw is added more slowly.

the pump is so weak that the kalk comes only at a little stream at a time, its barely strong enough to work

Not very much water evaporates before it sends a signal
