    Pump Emergency in Montreal

I just had my Mag 18 return pum die overnight. Has anybody in Montreal got a spare "Mag anything" laying around that I could use to get the flow back going for a couple of days?

I'd like to have a couple of days to replumb to an external pump so I can quit throwing away these "cheap" pumps. If I can't find anything I may driving to Ottawa see IJO today so replace it with another Mag 18.

    Thanks,

    Bill

are you sure it is dead? did you try opening it up and cleaning it out in case something may have clogged/jammed it?

The impeller sheared and now the damn thing is shorting back into the tank. It trips the GFCI as soon as I plug it in. I have been through this one before. They don't come back from here.

Bill, I don't know if you found a pump, but I have a mag 7 you could borrow, The mag 24 sounds like a better bet, though.

Thanks George, the mag 24 would probably overpower my overflow. I've got a PM on an external. I wasn't looking forward to plumbing all day, but I should make the leap to all externals pretty soon. These Mags just are not holding up well for me.

If I get stuck, I might limp along with your Mag 7 for a week Reefmutt.

I have to say the reef community in Montreal is really great! I think I am going to have to host something at my house as soon as my tank stops looking so ugly.

    Thanks everybody!

Just got a lead on another Mag 18. I think I'll give it one more try. Maybe if I give i a monthly vinegar bath it won't crap out. At least I won't spend the whole day plumbing.

In the mean time, I'm going to plan on a Iwaki for my birthday this summer.

Thanks again to everybody. I'm serious about a get together at my place in Montreal some time.
